Niki is a 24 years old Finnish rocker from Helsinki. Her music is an appealing blend of Scandinavian rock and Seattle sound, with a pop flavour. While Niki writes most of her own songs, she also performs other writers’ songs if the mood suits her personality. In her songs Niki writes mostly about her own life experiences.

Like her songs, Niki is all about….Attitude, attitude, attitude!!!! This was evident in Niki´s last single, “I care”. Niki sang the demo as a favour for her friends who had written the song – and loved it so much that she felt she had to release it. She told the engineer who was recording her; “This song is perfect for me!” Obviously that’s true. Just listen to it and you can hear that the song and singer are a perfect fit all the way! Niki is very involved in the entire production process. She has either written or selected all of her songs. She has assisted in designing her own artwork and has made the final selections for the covers. Niki also styles herself and does her own make-up for photo sessions, as she is a professional make-up artist. Niki is an artist that definitely has a vision for herself and her music – and at the same time she wants to be sure that it is portrayed completely throughout the entire process.

The Scandinavian music scene has embraced Niki. She has spent time in Stockholm, Sweden, to co-write with KBros and Fredrik Björk. Niki has also met music publishing guru Ben Malén. In addition, EMI Music Publishing Scandinavia has been following Niki’s development very closely. Niki’s latest single “I Care” is a true example of Scandinavian co-operation. It was co-written by Swedish hit-maker Jörgen Elofsson who has written for Britney Spears, Gareth Gates, Celine Dion, Westlife and so on.

The cream of new talent in Finland makes up the production team for “I Care”. Up-and-coming producer Jukka Backlund produced and arranged the song as well as played the keyboards in it. He was also a co-writer on two of the four tracks he produced for Niki. All four tracks were mixed by Mikko Raita, who has mixing credits for Killer, Apocalyptica etc. The musicians on the songs include one of Finland’s best young drummers, Teijo Jämsä (from Killer), Egotrippi’s bassist Anssi Maasala, and guitarist Riku Rajamaa, who played guitar for the Finnish Idol contest winner, Hanna Pakarinen.

In July 2006 Niki was representing Finland in Cesme Song Contest held in Turkey. In this song competition of 14 countries she was placed 6th.

What the hell – the artist is sexy, the songs are great, the production is innovative and the playing is excellent. What more can you ask for from your next big star!?!?
